3051. "Patterns of Separation"
47" x 39" x 2". Acrylic on canvas. This painting suggests a plan view of a place. It reflects a news stories I was listening to about families and friends being geographically and emotionally separated from each-other. I chose strong light and dark structural layout, with warm colours in the centre suggesting visibility and exposure, framed by darker outside forms. As in "Cat;s Cradle", I see the lyrical, rhythmic qualities of Miro compositions I admire, reflected in this piece.
